International Baccalaureate (IB)

Study Program

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Study Programme is a comprehensive two-year plan (2nd and 3rd grade) of high academic level leading to final exams for students between 16 and 19 years of age. This programme is not based on any particular country model, but represents a middle ground between the specialization required in some national systems and the breadth preferred by others.

The overall objectives of the IB are to provide students with a balanced education; facilitate geographical and cultural movements and promote international understanding through a shared academic experience.

Since its founding, the IB Diploma has become a symbol of academic integrity and intellectual ability. The student who meets their demands demonstrates dedication to learning, both in terms of mastery of subject content and the development of skills and discipline necessary for success in a competitive world.

There are three official languages of the IB: English, French and Spanish, the latter being adopted by St Margaret’s School for paperwork, reports and exams.

Our school has been teaching the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme since 1990.

Special Admission

Special or Direct Admission Process

Autonomous process of each student in which the school informs, delivers documents, guides and supports. Each University has its own deadlines and requirements and selection processes. By law 20% of the total tuition can be by special/direct admission. It is the responsibility of the student to request the documents on time (at least 5 days prior to the closing of the deadline) to Miss Constanza Sagredo. The application process is completed through the website of each university and in general there are no alternatives of internal scholarships of the University associated with Direct Admission.
